Fann, an alumna of MTSU’s School of Journalism, covered education, courts, government, the military, transportation and technology as a writer and editor for Tennessee media for nearly two decades before moving into higher education and legal publishing. Fann, news content manager/media specialist In addition to his role as editor of the university’s news site,, Jimmy works with media, campus crisis communications, public safety and numerous colleges and departments on campus. He directed coverage of Rutherford and Cannon counties for all Gannett Tennessee publications, including The Tennessean, in his role as editor of the DNJ. He joined the DNJ Media Group in spring 2006 after serving for 11 years as a reporter and city editor for The Jackson Sun. The former executive editor of The Daily News Journal and DNJ.com in Murfreesboro is a native of Lexington, Tennessee, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. Jimmy is director of news and media relations at MTSU and joined the university in May 2012 after a career in daily journalism.
